The slogan "Breast milk is still best for babies" is very true. Mother's milk is a complete food. It contains nutrients that fight infection and is tummy friendly. Its composition adjust automatically, depending upon the age of the child. At birth the baby has no natural protection from infections yet, except that which is passed by on the mother. Well nourished moms usually secrete 600 ml of milk a day during the first month, and go up to about 800 ml a day at about the six months. Breast milk also contains "Bifidus factor" which protect the gut and promotes easy digestion. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) emphasize the value of breastfeeding for mothers as well as children. Both recommended exclusive breastfeeding for the six months of life and then supplemented breastfeeding for at least one year and up to two years or more.
So, mother around the world should continue breastfeed their babies. If they want their babies to be healthy they must also be healthy.
